hungry? why wait?

(things in quotations were actually said out loud.)

I try to get to campus early so that I can study in the morning, which is my best time to study. But when you eat early in the morning, you usually get hungry earlier in the day. So it's no wonder my tummy started rumble before lunch time. Luckily there was a vending machine close to where I was studding and in it sat my favorite candy bar (for the time being), snickers. So I pulled a dollar bill out of my pocket and proceeded to rub it back and forth on the corner of the vending machine to flatten it out. I had to attempt to put it the machine 3 times before it would take, but it took my credit read $1.00. so I punched in A0 for snickers. The dollar came back out. “WHAT???” I stared at the dollar hanging from the machine. The machine already said I had one dollar credit. Annoyed, I still wanted my snickers and since I had gotten so close the last time, I decided to try the machine again. I rolled my eyes, “Fine!” then took the dollar out but rubbed it on the corner of the machine again to flatten it. Once again the same thing happened. I was totally confused and stared at the vending machine and started to tap on the glass. Next thing I knew, “’Soo’ Hungry. ‘Want to’ buy a snickers.” Came singing out of my mouth and if you have seen Billy Madison (I think it’s that movie, it may be a different Adam Sandler movie) you know the tune and rhythm to which I chanted. I rubbed the dollar bill and tried a few more times to get the snickers, to no avail. So I look and the other vending machine, “Ice cream it is.” Thank goodness it’s not winter.

vending machines are a little bit evil.

Maybe you can use this experience as a metaphore for life and learn from it. Sometimes you get hungry and you can't get what you really like so you settle for something less pleasing. Dude...thats not a metaphore for life, thats what happened. Ummm...in other words....compromise is always a good strategy when you are hungry. Wait..thats not too deep either. Im sorry you couldn't get your Snickers. Tragedy strikes at odd times my friend.

The vending machine at my old work would always give back change. Usually it gave you back more than the cost of the candy bar. I loved that machine.

We had a vending machine that gave you more then you asked for... you would ask for a snickers and you'd get a snickers and a twix or something. I once got three things... I was delighted!! They replaced the machine with a properly working one though.

You could've tried reaching up into the vending machine...

Have you ever seen the Simpson's where Homer gets his arm stuck in the vending machine?

:)

My favorite vending machine is the kind that spits out a round gumball that rolls down an elaborate slide before winding up in my mouth. Those kind, and the music vending machine called iTunes.
