Some people are nice...

I was on my way to the Long Beach Court House this morning when I watched a lady, who worked at the court house, give a homeless person his week-daily lunch she prepares for him. While filing the papers which prove that my grandma's neighbor has received his restraining order papers (been served), a Latino women with a small English vocabulary needed a pen. She was very flustered and didn't quite know how to acquire one. So an observant lady near by sought one out for her (she didn't seem to have one herself). While I was in the police station giving a police officer a copy of the neighbor’s restraining order, a man apologized for having accidentally cut in line. In a crowd of frowns a lady returned the smile I showed her.

I thought about the kind acts I had witnessed on the way back to my grandmothers house. When I pulled into my grandmothers' drive way to give her finalized copies of ALL the papers which were needed for the restraining order to be fully effective, I noticed a baseball sized hole in her front bay window. I found a large rock on her window sill and knew the damage was deliberate. Cracks reaching to every side of large glass were enough to make the 79 year old cry. I had to remind myself at that moment that some people are nice despite the neighbors harrasment.

He'll get what's coming to him. Just like kind people receive kindness in turn.
